Ready to get started with sustainable landscaping? Here’s our complete guide on how the design service works:
- First, contact us to schedule a in person consultation. If you aren’t sure which design option will work best for you we can help you decide at this time. Please set aside at least two hours for your consultation and have a plan to mitigate any distractions like small children or pets (even though we love them) so we can have your complete focus on making your dream garden design.
- After scheduling your consultation we will send you a questionnaire to review. We will go through the questionnaire together during the consultation, so no need to fill it out (unless you really want too), but feel free to jot down any important ideas. The purpose of the questionnaire is to help you organize your thoughts so you’re ready for your consultation! You can view a copy of our client questionnaire here.
- Now it’s time for your consultation! During your consultation we will do a walk through of the space and gather information on the current elements, desires for a new plan, budget, etc. so that we can come up with the best plan for your space.
- After your consultation, we will provide you with a service agreement to sign if you choose to continue with services. A deposit of $300 as well as a copy of soil test and site survey for Root to Rooftop package will be required before planning starts. View the service agreement here.
- After receiving the requirements to begin, we start the design process. With all the knowledge we gathered from your consultation we will create a rough draft of the proposed layout of the space. At this point we are just putting the “bones” of the plan together with planned earthworks, structures, and other foundational elements.
- When the rough draft is completed we will contact you to go over the proposed layout. We will review the plans with you and make any revisions necessary to finalize the layout. This process takes about 1-2 hours virtually. At this point we will also further discuss materials, plants, etc for the completed plan.
- After the layout is finalized, we will start adding the details of the space. This includes things like plantings, paths, materials and etc. We will also start compiling a guide of proposed plants and materials to help you with approval.
- After the details are added we will contact you again to go over and approve the plans before finalizing. At this point we will make any final revisions and move onto the finishing touches. This meeting generally takes place 30-60min virtually.
- Once the details are approved, we will add the final touches to the plans, prepare the accompanying guides for the plan, planting lists and other included materials. Once completed we will contact you to go over the final plans. Final payment of remaining balance is due upon receiving the final plans. This final meeting generally takes 60-90min.
- Now it’s time to start digging! Many customers want to implement the plans themselves while some may hire professionals or a combination of both. We will discuss your plans and capabilities for implementation during the consultation and design process so we can create plans that are achievable for you.
